Winter Sports Start Strong

Winter Sports are off to a strong start for the Bay Ridge Prep Tigers. Here are some athletics highlights for December 2019. Support our Tigers at their home games! Check out the full athletics calendar or view individual team pages.

Boys Varsity Basketball
Boys Varsity Basketball is making some noise as they move into a new league, the Independent School Athletic League (ISAL). As of December 18, the Tigers are currently 2-3 in the league with two very impressive wins over the French-American School of New York and The Garden School.

Girls Varsity Basketball
Girls Varsity Basketball has shown a new and more energized  presence on the courts this year. Their defense, so far, has been unmatched and they have been putting on an amazing performance in all their games.

Boys Junior Varsity Basketball
In case you missed it, the Boys JV Basketball team had some real nail-biter games. Their most impressive game was against Birch Wathen Lenox School (BWL). The Tigers were down by 22 points going into the second half of the game. Showing their fighting spirit, they bounced back from the double-digit deficit and even took the lead with four minutes left in the fourth quarter. After bouncing back and forth in the final minutes, the Tigers fell to BWL, but the heart shown by the JV Boys is something everyone should witness by coming to a home game.

Boys Middle School Basketball
Boys Middle School Basketball started their season with a win over Dwight. The Tigers are demonstrating a great willingness to work together as a team, both on and off the court. They've committed to working hard all season and representing our school well.

Girls Middle School Basketball
Coming off a first place finish in their debut season, our Middle School Girls Basketball Tigers are once again leading their division in the ISAL. Their second season opened with the Tigers dominating their first three games and showing no signs of slowing down.

Varsity Indoor Track
Varsity Indoor Track runner Gregory Kuznetsov '21 started the season taking second place in the first Ivy League track meet. He also beat his personal best time in the 1600m indoor race with a very impressive time of 5 minutes and 16 seconds.
