Two Educators Honored for Ten Years of Service

Each year, the faculty and staff of Bay Ridge Prep take time to honor colleagues who have reached their tenth year of service to the school. This year, Lower & Middle School faculty and staff virtually celebrated Fifth Grade Teacher Erin McLaughlin and Lower & Middle School Music Teacher Scott Tofte for reaching this milestone. The virtual celebration on January 26 included brief remarks about each educator and recorded messages from faculty, staff and students.

Remarks about Scott Tofte included the incredible amount of time he has devoted to the arts department and building a Middle School band program from the ground up. He has also been integral to the Lower & Middle School theater program. He attends each performance to make sure the lighting and sound is just right so that the students on stage can shine. Outside of the arts, he coaches Middle School Girls Volleyball led them to a championship season in 2014.

Erin McLaughlin was praised for the culture she has built in her classroom and the warm and welcoming atmosphere that her students provide when they meet visitors to the school. Erin’s dedication to her students also goes beyond the classroom. She is known to stay late to see them participate in athletics and arts as well as go to their karate tournament on weekends. For Erin, teaching and supporting her fifth graders doesn't end at dismissal.
