Athletics Recap: September 2019

The Bay Ridge Prep Tigers are off to a great start for the 2019-2020 school year! Here are some highlights from the month of September:

Varsity Cross Country
With the season just beginning, Varsity Cross Country has already made Bay Ridge Prep history with Gregory Kuznetsov '21 placing first to win their second meet of the season. This is the first win in a cross country event for Bay Ridge Prep while Kuznetsov set a new PR with his 20:59 5K run.

Grades 5 & 6 Cross Country
After weeks of hard work and training, Cross Country Tigers in Grades 5 & 6 competed in their first ever track event at Cadman Plaza on September 25! Ten students comprise this very fast group of runners!

Varsity Boys Soccer
Our Tigers started the soccer season with an amazing 5-2 win over Mary McDowell Friends School. In the home opener, team captain Moses Millman '20 scored three goals in a single game for his first hat trick. The Varsity Soccer squad is currently in second place in the Independent School Athletic League with hopes of making an appearance in the playoffs.

Varsity Girls Tennis
As always Deliala Friedman '21 is unstoppable on the tennis courts. She is currently undefeated and is making a strong name for herself in the Private School Athletic Association.

Varsity Girls Volleyball
Varsity Girls Volleyball is making a strong presence in both the Private School Athletic Association and the Independent school Athletic League. They are currently sitting in third place in both the PSAA and the ISAL.

Middle School Girls Volleyball
Middle school girls volleyball is back this year with many returning players as well as several new students stepping onto the court for the first time. The season is off to an excellent start with two wins!
