Bay Ridge Prep congratulates its first ever inductees into The International Thespian Society’s Junior Thespian Troupe 89608! The International Thespian Society, a national honor society recognizing members for their skill not only as actors, but for all areas of work in theatre arts, welcomed junior troupe members during a ceremony on October 30.
Students become members by earning points for their work, which must meet the International Thespian Society’s guidelines. Points are earned for hours spent in rehearsal and performance, working on production crews, working in the box office, doing committee work, and helping with Junior Thespian projects. These productions and projects may be done at school or through community organizations and theatre companies. The following seventh and eighth grade students were deemed to have earned enough points at the beginning of this school year to merit an invitation to join: Danny Calicanis, Mary Joe Evangelista, Kate Lynch, Lila Menussi-Sharp, Leila Mullarkey, Ryann Parcell, Maya Slotnick, and Jack Walsh.
The troupe looks forward to projects that include community service initiatives, participating in the New York Jr. Thespian Festival and access to online and print resources for student actors. Bay Ridge Prep will host another induction ceremony on November 27 for Upper School students who will also join the International Thespian Society.
Founded in 1998, Bay Ridge Prep is an independent, K-12 college preparatory school offering exceptional courses and intimate class sizes in a socially-mature and positive environment.
