Bay Ridge Prep Seniors Mia Bedford-Lazow and A.J. Solecki were inducted into the Tiger Club at the annual Upper School Sports Dinner. Both students were recipients of the Tiger Award for Overall Excellence, the highest honor given to a graduating student-athlete by the school's administration.

Inductees to the Tiger Club are graduating seniors who, according to the inscription on the Tiger Award, display "positive character, sportsmanship, team leadership, school spirit" and are "one of the most quintessential student-athletes to grace the classrooms, courts, and fields of Bay Ridge Preparatory School."

Speaking for Bedford-Lazow, Athletic Director Tony Campbell acknowledged her dedication to soccer and the fact that she played it as a club sport, plays in a league outside of school and even played this year on the boys soccer team. In addition to soccer, she was integral to the varsity softball team's back-to-back championship wins in 2016 and 2017. Coach Campbell added that faculty described Bedford-Lazow as a student who "works hard, focuses, and goes to great lengths to be successful in her achievements and consistently pushes herself to be better."

As for Solecki, he was acknowledged for being involved in soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis and squash since joining Bay Ridge Prep in middle school. He is nationally-ranked in squash, helped build the school's squash program and was a crucial player in the baseball team's back-to-back championship wins in 2014 and 2015. Head of School Dr. Charles Fasano said of Solecki, "he is also an exceptional student with a stellar reputation among his teachers. He always strives to do the best he can inside and outside the classroom. He is tenacious, driven and humble."

In addition to the Tiger Award for Overall Excellence, each team also gave awards honoring student-athletes.
