The Tiger Trot, our oldest school tradition, will still happen this year but as a newly designed virtual event to celebrate the Bay Ridge Prep community! Rather than just one day, the event will take place over the course of three days beginning on June 5 and ending on June 7 and you can participate according to a schedule you determine. Best of all, we have decided to proceed with the printing and distribution of this year’s Tiger Trot shirts so you can proudly wear yours participating in your run, walk, or chosen form of exercise. You can then share your photos on social media and with the school.
Participation can happen safely in different ways! You may decide to engage in active running, while observing social distancing and local curfew guidelines, with a record of your time being tracked on Strava, a free running app that we can all sign up for. You may also decide to do a family walk or perhaps use bicycles, treadmills or other exercise equipment to participate. If you would like to use the app, you can download Strava from your app store and create an account. One you have registered, join the Bay Ridge Prep Tiger Trot Club on Strava to have your activity reported to our athletics department.
If you are doing an outdoor activity, please be sure to adhere to social distancing guidelines, wear a mask if you will be near others, and complete it before any local curfews that are in effect.
Tiger Trot shirts are being mailed to you! If you ordered a Tiger Trot shirt online before the pop-up store closed, then your shirt will be on its way to your home soon!
The Tiger Trot will celebrate and support our community. The Tiger Trot events of the past generated outstanding school spirit and also provided us with an opportunity to accept donations in support of our school’s annual fund, which normally is used to enhance the student experience by providing additional funding for technology, facilities, and increased faculty professional development. While those will always remain a priority, we fully acknowledge that the pandemic has affected all of us, some more significantly than others. For those who are in a position to give and feel inspired to do so, please know that you can make a donation to the annual fund and designate it as Tiger Trot. We will direct it towards emergency and discretionary funding that will afford us additional resources to be responsive to our school community during this crisis. While our Tiger Trot t-shirts are already in production, sponsorship recognition will continue on our social media and school website.
