Bay Ridge Prep Purchases Shore Road Property
Bay Ridge Prep has taken an exciting step forward in bolstering its growth and its future by purchasing property at 7503-7509 Shore Road in Brooklyn. Located along the mile-long stretch of Shore Road's waterfront parkland, fields and running paths, the new property includes a 26,000 square foot facility that will undergo a full renovation before opening to students in late 2023. The new building, along with its on-site outdoor space and the neighboring park, will allow Bay Ridge Prep to enhance all of the school's current programs. It will alleviate space constraints at the school's existing facilities at 7420 Fourth Avenue and 8101 Ridge Boulevard, both of which will be retained, while making it possible to expand the teaching and learning opportunities for future generations of Bay Ridge Prep students, faculty and staff.
With this property purchase, Bay Ridge Prep also launches Our School. Our Future: The Campaign for Bay Ridge Prep. This multi-year capital fundraising drive, along with bank financing, will play a key role in the development of this new space. The school has started the early stages of designing and planning how to utilize the Shore Road property. Architects have been engaged and the school’s leadership team has toured the property several times to discuss the possibilities that this new space will bring to the entire school. As Bay Ridge Prep moves further along in this initial phase, Head of School Charles Fasano will host a virtual town hall meeting to discuss the project more with school community members.
Purchasing this property is the result of a journey that began nearly six years ago when the administration and trustees of Bay Ridge Prep commenced an active search for property and funding that would enable the school to meet the increasing demand for a Bay Ridge Prep education. As the school approaches 2023, its 25th anniversary year, it is poised to enter its next quarter-century with this incredible opportunity.
Architects are developing plans of what can be possible with our new property. Head of School Charles Fasano will host a virtual town hall meeting for the school community in the coming months to discuss the progress of our architectural planning. The resources for us to support these plans will be determined by the success of Our Future. Our School. The Campaign for Bay Ridge Prep. More information about supporting this project and the future of our school will be released soon.
