Bay Ridge Prep students have displayed incredible resilience in the face of a global crisis that impacts our daily routines. Faculty and staff have gone above and beyond to bring some sense of normalcy back to the lives of the students and the school. Parents and families have been patient, flexible and gracious as we all move forward together to provide a safe and meaningful school experience for both our in-person and remote students. We are proud of our community.
Although the start of school has been successful, our community is working hard to not relax its standards in preventing the transmission of the virus. We are evaluating school operations to best meet the community's needs during these evolving circumstances that we live in and, when necessary, are making adjustments.
Lower School students Grades K-5 are back on campus 5 days per week in person.
Middle School 6th grade students are in person 5 days a week in person.
Middle School 7th and 8th grade students rotate one week in person and one week remotely engaged in our Distance Learning Program (alternating weeks to help lessen the population in the building at any given time.
Our distance learning program provides a comprehensive and age-appropriately designed schedule, using zoom classes and activities. We believe students need to be with their peers, even if it is in a virtual environment. We also believe during this time that students should be interacting with their teachers on a regular basis. In this new educational setting, feedback, understanding, and compassion have never been more crucial to student well-being. In addition to a mixture of synchronous and asynchronous classes, teachers are available for office hours each day to further support students in their classes.
