Admissions Process

Bay Ridge Prep operates a rolling admissions system.  However, the Office of Admissions strongly recommends submitting applications in the fall prior to the intended academic year of enrollment. This allows the Admissions Committee ample time to review the applicant's file and make a decision in a timely manner.

Although applications are accepted at any point during the year, there are a limited number of spaces available, and it is not unusual for classes to be full by March. Applicants who wish to transfer to Bay Ridge Prep mid-year should first check with the Office of Admissions for space availability in the class they wish to enter. Please call 718-833-9090 or e-mail admissions@bayridgeprep.org to discuss mid-year entry.

Once we receive the application, the student and family will be contacted to discuss it and possibly schedule an interview. The interview is a good opportunity for parents and students to tour the school facilities and ask questions. Depending upon the age of the child, formal and/or informal testing will take place on the day of the interview to assess the student's academic levels and/or readiness skills.

After the interview, the Admissions Committee will determine whether the applicant will benefit from and contribute to our school. The Admissions Coordinator will notify the prospective family of Bay Ridge Prep's decision about acceptance status. An enrollment package will then be sent to the family; it is up to the family to return the enrollment contract and deposit by the date specified in order to reserve the applicant's place as a student in our school.
